Video Still

Course: Ba (hons) photography, London College of Communication

Growing up in the rural village of Stensele, Sweden, I was always surrounded by Arts and Crafts. Whether it was my grandfather carving knives, or my grandmother weaving, the act of making was something I took part in from an early age. I feel it is because of this creative upbringing that I am open view to working across a range of media, both new and old. My work is about the nostalgic feeling I have towards home, it is my detachment from it that has harbored a fascination with the imagery and texts of the Romantic period, an attempt to escape mass population and urban industrialism with a return to an overly exotic and nostalgic view of nature. It is this creation of fantasy, maybe even a desire to reconfigure memory to transform a setting that I feel relates to my own practice.
